AAMA LOGOThe Chinese economy will be the largest in the world within the next 5 years.  China already produces about 37% of all manufactured goods in the world and is experiencing double digit growth in both the domestic and export manufacturing sectors.  The Chinese middle class is growing by double digits and the demand for consumer goods and services is exploding.  China is projected to achieve 7-9% growth even in the wake of the global financial crisis, largely due to government spending, capital investment and a boost in lending by Chinese banks.  It must sustain at least 8% growth to avoid massive layoffs and political instability.   Few would deny that China will play a large part in pulling the world out of recession.

What are the opportunities and risks for U.S. capital investors and businesses in China in the recovering global economy?  The Chinese government also has the medium to long-term goal of transforming China's economy into one driven by domestic consumption and indigenous innovation.  What are the opportunities for U.S. businesses as China implements these long-term objectives?  What are the associated risks and how should U.S. businesses mitigate those risks?  China experts on this panel will address these and related topics.
